Well, the 1929 Wall Street crash brought on the Great Depression. It was difficult for everyone because jobs just vanished for just about all of us." __ After WWI and the Great Depression, the American public became increasingly isolated. However, when WWII began
in Europe, American leaders were ready to defend the Allies.
Britain was losing and pleaded with
America for support. Roosevelt knew the American public was against the country's
military involvement, but he was able to give support through the Lend-Lease Act.
